Understanding this calculator

What this tool calculates

Tarabala and Chandrabala compare a person's calculated birth Moon reference with the Panchanga for one selected observing date and place. The birth Nakshatra supplies the Janma star; the current Nakshatra is counted inclusively through a repeating cycle of nine Tara groups. Chandrabala separately counts the current Moon Rashi from the Janma Moon Rashi in a twelve-sign cycle. These are two different calculations: a good Tara classification does not force a matching Chandrabala result. The tool needs reliable birth time and place, plus the intended daily city, because the two Moon contexts serve different purposes.

How to interpret the result

Check the entered birth record first. The Janma Nakshatra and Janma Rashi come from the Moon at that exact birth instant, not the person's name or Western Sun sign. In the nine-Tara sequence the labels are Janma, Sampat, Vipat, Kshema, Pratyari, Sadhaka, Naidhana, Mitra and Parama Mitra; positions two, four, six, eight and nine are marked favourable in the implemented table. For an arithmetic illustration rather than a predicted calendar event, count from a hypothetical Janma Nakshatra at position one to the next Nakshatra at position two. The inclusive count is two, which the tool calls Sampat. Count to the tenth Nakshatra and the inclusive distance is ten: this wraps to Tara position one, Janma, not a tenth Tara name. Read the actual displayed star names and their count, because a Moon Nakshatra transition after sunrise can divide the day into segments with different Tara labels. Chandrabala counts houses from natal Moon Rashi: houses one, three, six, seven, ten and eleven are favourable in this implementation; four, eight and twelve are review; two, five and nine are mixed. For example, the same natal and current Moon sign counts as house one. The engine shows the reference day's sunrise context and any sampled Nakshatra change, not an all-day promise. An almanac may use different acceptable sets, so compare conventions before reading the labels as contradictory.

Scope and limitations

The displayed favourable, review and mixed tags are traditional rule-table classifications, not evidence of health, safety, investment returns or success. An incorrect birth time near a Nakshatra boundary can change Janma Nakshatra and every subsequent Tara count. The selected daily location affects sunrise sampling and the date's time labels. The implementation considers the initial sunrise Nakshatra and the next transition in the sunrise cycle, so it should not be mistaken for a full arbitrarily long motion timeline or comprehensive electional analysis. Other Muhurta factors and regional exceptions must be evaluated separately.
